Antique Chair

I spend a lot of time stitching models to send to market. Sometimes I like to stitch something just for my home. The turkey flowers pillow was one.

I found this English chair at an antique market in Warrenton, Texas and knew immediately it would be perfect for a project I had in mind. The design is inspired by an Elizabethan coif and I had fun bringing it to life with vibrant blues and reds.

The tendrils of vines echo the character of the carved circles on the back of the chair. The canvas measures 26” x 18” and is stitched in basketweave on 13 count. I used Bella Lusso and mostly Empress Elite – both so easy to pull through the canvas.

I may never have time to finish such a project again, but it was worth it!
